The school opened in 1874 as a non denomiational co-educational school for the local area. At present the school roll stands at 20. There two classes in the school, P1 – P3 and P4-P7. The children at Glassary come from the villages of Kilmichael Glassary (pronounced Kill-Mickle) and Bridgend and the outlying rural areas.
