The Canadian Connection
In 1819, Donald and William Cameron left Kilmichael Glen for Ontario in Canada. Every year since 1925 the descendants of these two brothers have held a picnic in Canada. However, recently the size and spead of this extended family has resulted in the winding up of the Cameron Picnic Society.
Last Year the school was visited my Mr Donald King of Ontario, a descendant of one of the brothers, together with his daughter Laurel and grandson. They enjoyed their visit to the school and very generously sent the school some money from the Society. A couple of months later, Laurel King, the daughter, very thoughtfully sent the school a large box of Canadian novels for the children. Today a cheque arrived in school from Canada. It is the money which was left over from winding up the society. Again, with great generosity, the society has decided that Glassary Primary should have the money in memory of their ancestors.
All we have to do now is think of a fitting use for the money to enrich the school permanently. Suggestions please.
